What is CrossFit?
Crossfit can be something different for each and every person who visits a box. It can be a lifestyle change, a welcoming community, a place to workout, a challenge to overcome, a goal, or so much more for each person that gives it a try.
Crossfit, as defined by Crossfit Inc., is:
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
CrossFit contends that a person is as fit as they are proficient in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy.
What does this mean?
In simple terms, CrossFit is a training program that develops strength and conditioning through high-intensity workouts with varied, movements and time domains. But, CrossFt is so much more. Even though you will increase your strength and conditioning, you will gain friends, confidence and a community of hard working, like minded-friends.
These factors outside of strength and conditioning is where CrossFit really shines. They hold you accountable, they make you want to come back, they are welcoming and all inclusive. This is what keeps bringing me back to my gym and is one of the reasons that made us want to open R3VIVE.
We will strive to bring this kind of environment to each and every member that walks into our gym (but don\’t let that make you think that we won\’t also challenge you!).
See you at the gym!
