R3VIVE’s Member of the Month, August 2023
Introducing our Gym M.O.M. (Member of the Month) for August 2023 … Zara Jimenez!
We’re excited to finally get to honor Zara, who has been one of our more consistent members for some time. Zara was voted unanimously by her coaches, because we all recognize how hard she works while being attentive and responsive to coaching.
Learn more about Zara below:
Q: What made you decide to start functional fitness training?
I primarily switched from bodybuilding to Functional Fitness when I discovered it gave me strength in real life – when I did bodybuilding it was very frustrating to lift a lot but then not being able to open a jar in my kitchen. Functional Fitness changed that!
Q: Are you a student/working professional/both? What do you do for a living?
I’m a working professional. I work for a software company and do business strategy for their Augmented Reality software.
Q: What are your hobbies/interests outside of the gym?
I love cooking and food in general, so I created a food blog (instagram and tik tok) where I review restaurants in a brutally honest way, and show a data-driven process to evaluate and pick restaurants. Follow me at @the.food.review =)
Q: What are some of your favorite movements (name up to three)?
Deadlifts. Snatch. Lunges.
Q: What are your least favorite movements?
Running. Sandbags. Burpees.
Q: What movements do you want to improve at?
Pull-ups, but I can’t do those right now. Another could be pistols.
Q: What advice do you have for someone considering our gym?
You shouldn’t be afraid of skill level required to join! A lot of people I know hesitate for that reason, but this gym has great coaches that will always give you scaled-down options to something you can do. Give it a chance!
Q: What’s your favorite “cheat” food?
Chips… any kind, any flavor.
Q: Do you have any nicknames?
Everyone calls me Zara but my full name is Zaraid, so Zara is my nickname.
Q: Tell us an interesting fact that we probably don’t know about you!
When I was young I wanted to be a chef so I went to Culinary School when I was 16, overlapping high school and college.
