R3VIVE’s Member of the Month, February 2024
Introducing our Gym M.O.M. (Member of the Month) for February 2024 … Hannah Harens!
Hannah has been part of our community for a little over a year now, and in that time, she’s made a positive impact on both our coaches and fellow members.
In each class, Hannah brings a can-do attitude that is inspiring. She pays careful attention to instructions and consistently puts forth her best efforts in coaching. Her easygoing personality makes collaboration a pleasure, and we’re proud of the progress she has achieved during her time with us.
Learn more about Hannah below:
Q: What made you decide to start functional fitness training?
I started watching the CrossFit Games through the end of high school and into college and got so inspired by the strength and abilities of all the competitors. While I maintained an active lifestyle, I never considered myself a great athlete and was looking for a workout routine I felt committed to year-round. I always like a challenge, and I knew I wanted to work toward mastering complex movements and improving my daily fitness!
Q: Are you a student/working professional/both? What do you do for a living?
I graduated undergrad from MIT in 2022 and am now working towards my PhD in Bioengineering at Northeastern.
Q: What are your hobbies/interests outside of the gym?
I am an avid competitive shotgun shooter, which is where I spend the majority of my weekends. I compete around the country (primarily in the northeast) and run the team at NEU.
Q: What are some of your favorite movements (name up to three)?
Cleans, ab-mat sit-ups, double-unders!
Q: What are some of your least favorite movements?
Thrusters and burpees.
Q: What movement do you want to improve at?
Snatches, muscle ups (hope to get my first one in the near future)!
Q: What advice do you have for someone considering our gym?
I highly recommend R3VIVE to anyone! I feel so challenged and supported to succeed and have made so much progress in my personal fitness since joining. The coaches are incredibly welcoming and make all the classes adaptable for beginners, advanced athletes, and anyone in between.
Q: What is your favorite cheat meal?
I think I eat pretty well, but I do enjoy a sweet treat (ex. dark chocolate) after dinner most nights.
Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
Coffee!!! I have been drinking coffee for as long as I can remember, I am a big Starbucks girl (none of the tutti-fruity drinks though) but also enjoy trying espresso from local shops around Boston! I also got an espresso maker last year and have been working on perfecting my own cup; I can frequently been found drinking late-afternoon lattes….
Q: Do you have any nicknames?
Most people just call me Hannah, but I do get the occasional HH, H, or Han.
Q: Tell us an interesting fact that we probably don’t know about you!
I had a lot of hobbies growing up, aside from shooting, I was a dancer (ballet, tap, jazz) for 15 years, I played basketball, ran track, and played guitar, viola, and ukulele.
