September 2022's gym MOM, Danny!

R3VIVE’s Member of the Month, September 2022

R3VIVE Fitness September 13, 2022 Announcements

Introducing our Gym M.O.M. (Member of the Month) for September 2022 … Danny Gonzalez!

It is such a pleasure to work with Danny! His positivity and attention to detail are some of the key traits that make him a pleasure to work with but also, it’s what has helped him improve as an athlete over the course of his time with us. Danny takes to the class lessons with ease, sticking to his plan of developing strength and improving his movement, using the build track. He has shown vast improvement in those areas over his tenure with us and we could not be more happier to announce him as our next gym MOM! Go Danny!

Learn more about Danny below:

Q: What made you decide to start functional fitness training?
I had always felt intimidated by the gym. There is so much equipment, and I was scared of injuring myself. The pandemic shifted my perspective. I found myself with a deep appreciation for my health and wellness. Feeling more empowered, I walked into the gym one day, and here we are!

Q: Are you a student/working professional/both? What do you do for a living?
I am a trained psychiatrist who serves as a medical director in the Boston-area. I provide direct clinical care, supervise/teach trainees and staff, and assess current delivery care models within our academic and community-based healthcare system.

Q: What are your hobbies/interests outside of the gym?
Dance is a passion of mine. I studied and trained in modern and contemporary dance for many years, having opportunities to both dance and choreograph.

Q: What are some of your favorite movements (name up to three)?
Power cleans, bench press, and bike.

Q: What are your least favorite movements?
Running, sand bag cleans, and headstands.

Q: What movements do you want to improve at?
Any movement involving a barbell.

Q: What advice do you have for someone considering our gym?
R3VIVE Fitness is a welcoming environment for all folks regardless of training experience. You will meet many kind individuals who genuinely want to help you feel comfortable and reach whatever fitness goals you might have. I encourage you to simply show up and give it your best (even if your best is rolling out of bed and just barely making it to the gym – you made it!).

Q: What’s your favorite “cheat” food?
ALL the Flaming Hot chips (Cheetos, Doritos, etc.)

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
Watching Project Runway and any other fashion design show.

Q: Do you have any nicknames?
Danny, D, Ale/Alejandro.

Q: Tell us an interesting fact that we probably don’t know about you!
I have watched every Pedro Almodovar and Wes Craven film.

Fall Programming Cycle 2024

Jump into our Fall Functional Fitness cycle! We’re keeping consistent with strength training and adding progressions to each day: power-based posterior chain on Mondays, upper pressing and gymnastics on Tuesdays, heavy deadlifts on Wednesdays, unilateral bodybuilding on Thursdays, and squatting strength on Fridays.

We’re introducing A-Week/B-Week splits to ensure balanced exposure to all movements. Plus, this cycle’s conditioning will focus on intensity with dedicated conditioning days, helping build on the aerobic base we developed over the summer. Let’s crush this season together!
