Getting Started with Functional Fitness at R3VIVE
A new year brings new goals, new hobbies, and new intentions. Health and fitness are common goals at the beginning of the year, whether it’s to get in better shape, conquer a new movement, or even make new connections with your local community. Whether you are starting your fitness journey or are experienced, starting at a new gym can be nerve-wrecking. Being “thrown into the fire” when you’re new is not a sustainable way to achieve your goals and definitely not our method of conducting business.
We believe in taking you through a process to ensure that you are comfortable, safe and on the correct path towards your goals!
If you are considering starting at R3vive, we’ve put together this post to explain what starting classes looks like, to ensure that we are leading you down a path that removes any frustrations or stress.
Initial Consultation
Our initial consultation allows our coaches to get an understanding of what your goals are, where you are starting from and to get to know you better. This 30 min consultation allows us to build a path forward together. Whether that is through our on-ramp Program, our movement assessment, or pointing you to the best classes. We will work together to choose a path that best fits your goals based on your experience level.

Movement Assessment
Because everyone’s backgrounds are different, we can not assign everyone the same plan. Everyone’s fitness journey’s can differ slightly or drastically. This is where we utilize our movement assessment, to get the most information for where your fitness level is currently at.
Performing the movement assessment
This is a joint by joint assessment that shows us what your current flexibility (passive range of motion), mobility (active range of motion), core strength, your aerobic base, or any movement issues from prior injuries that you might have. We use this to help us coach you in classes and personalize your on-ramp experience, so you can train pain free and continue improving over time.
Foundations
At R3VIVE, we believe that all athletes need to begin with the basics. Our foundations program is where we get the privilege to coach you one-on-one, through basic movement patterns and methodology used in our functional fitness classes.
We designed our foundations sessions to ensure that we set you up for success before you jump into our functional fitness or barbell classes. After completing the foundations program, you will have a better understanding of the basic movements, ensuring you are more comfortable performing them in classes. This allows both you and your coach to have a more fun and efficient class, so you get more out of each day you come to R3VIVE.

Functional Fitness Classes
Once you begin attending classes, you will be greeted by your coaches to help prepare you for class. Our functional fitness classes are programmed in a way that is flexible to be challenging for any fitness level, whether this is your first class or you’re an experienced athlete. Each class will have two tracks that a coach will lead you through while modifying each for your current abilities.
Getting started with classes
Our build track is designed to build and improve your foundational strength, structural balance and movement patterns that will help you develop the functional skills that will transfer into your everyday life.
Our perform track enables you to advance your fitness by incorporating what you learned in the build track with higher skill movements and intensities. Each track will improve your functional fitness for everyday life — it just depends on how you want to get there — which we will work together to get you there!
We can’t wait to see you in the gym and for the opportunity to help you improve your fitness!
